Hakii - Belair (too looonnggg)

Hi everyone,

I tried the Hakii in Belair, a new japanese restaurant! I went there with a lot of expectations as it is the same owner of Mont Saint Lambert (one of my favorite restaurant in Luxembourg)!

The place is cool and well located. Small, simple tables in wood with low chairs, photographies on the wall, great! So, after looking for a space to put our jackets (quite difficult), we finally sit and wait for the waiter, and wait, wait wait... we finally order our drinks and again a long wait... the waiter informed us that this week no sushis! ok, that's fine, i love to discover other things and for having traveled in Japan, I know that a lot of plates are delicious!
So we discovered the menu with only bawls of rice and other elements added on it. You can also have nigiris as a starter which are basically a bawl of rice with fish or advocate on the top of it.

After a long wait, we finally order and this was the beginning of another very long wait! After we received bowls for some people of the table, we had to wait again for the other people while our bowls became colder... I was a bit stunned because it wasn't overcrowded! In Mont Saint Lambert, I've never experienced this...

I took Gudyon (or Guydon not sure), it was beef, egg and rice! delicious and the portion was sufficient! Another disappointment was the absence of dessert...
Seeing our faces, the waiter confessed that they are waiting for another cooker and that was a difficult launch... So we had to wait few months to see the real spirit of the place! The service was as usual really nice and they even offered us a last shot before we leave, Mont saint lambert spirit :)

As I said, knowing their other restaurant, I will give them another chance!

Barrels, glacis Luxembourg - good simple and fast lunch!

Hi everyone,

Today, I went back to the Barrels, the "wine restaurant" next to the Hitch in glacis.

The atmosphere is quite intimate with high wood tables, low lights and not a terrific loud music!

The restaurant is quite small but this is perfect as i don't like too crowded places and I prefer to not eat with neighbors of other tables! because yes! the tables are close but not too close so that you can keep a bit of intimacy during your lunch!

For the menu, i'm always quite happy when i've a lunch for a price below 20 EUR! and in Luxembourg it is quite a challenge! Even in the Exki, it can amount for more than that! So you have suggestions for 12, 50 EUR and also other lunch stuffs on another page menu. The food suggestion is appropriate for a lunch and this type of places: plates of cheeses, hams, bruschettas, tapas and so on.
So simple plates, without being pretentious.

I went for the "croque monsieur" with truffles! This consisted of a simple croque monsieur with a béchamel and truffles, only what i'm looking for, no superficial adds! The smell of the truffles was really present and I really appreciated this.

However, i was a bit disappointed by the sides, only few rocket leaves, looking very alone... But to be honest, it was quite sufficient for my small stomach and for a lunch (no need to sleep at work because of digestion)!

Finally, an important thing for work lunch, the service was really fast, maybe because of the small menu! For the waitress, not the best service but efficient, and that's sufficient :)

At the end, I would really recommend this comfortable and quiet place for a lunch but also for the afterwork (good menu for tapas and wines!).

Tastefully,
Claire
